# Flonflon rules

Flonflon is a weekly music game where friends submit and listen to music.

A **flon** is a select group of players. You can join as many flons as you want.

Post tracks your friends will love or that will surprise them. That's the whole game.

Everything below is details.

## The week

1. **Monday: drop.** Post one Spotify track and, if you like, a 140-character pitch. A new flon's first drop opens immediately; regular games then start on Monday. Drop closes Monday at 23:59 in your flon's time zone. If you forget, the first eligible spare in your track pool posts automatically.
2. **Tuesday: listen.** Everyone's tracks become one Spotify playlist in random order. Their pitches are visible, but nobody's name is attached.
3. **Until Sunday: vote.** Fill every place on your ballot. You cannot vote for your own track, and you can change your mind until voting closes on Sunday 23:59 in your flon's time zone.
4. **Monday: reveal.** Names come out, points land, the winner is revealed, and the next week opens.

## Scoring

| Ballot position | Points |
| --- | ---: |
| 1st pick | 10 |
| 2nd pick | 5 |
| 3rd pick | 3 |

These are the standard points. The Z retains its legacy scoring of 12, 8 and 5.
Historical results are unchanged.

If you play but don't vote or if your vote is incomplete, your own score gets halved.

Win a week and you **can** post a bonus second track the next one: twice the chance to win again, with no penalty if you keep just your first drop. Your final ranking will be based on the best scoring track.

If there are only 3 players, you only make a top 2. And you can't play if you're only 2 players.

## The indice flonflonique

The indice flonflonique is a performance score adjusted by attendance and seniority:

`100 × performance × attendance coefficient × seniority coefficient`

- **Performance:** for every week you play, your points are divided by the maximum you could have earned: the top ballot value multiplied by the number of other eligible voters. Performance is the average of those weekly percentages.
- **Attendance coefficient:** weeks played against eligible weeks since you joined. Attendance of 50% is neutral; the coefficient ranges from ×0.90 to ×1.10. Personal-pause weeks do not count against you.
- **Seniority coefficient:** eligible weeks since you joined, reaching full seniority after 52 weeks. The coefficient grows from ×0.90 to ×1.10.

For seasonal and yearly tables, performance follows the selected period while attendance and seniority use your full history in that flon. The global index on your home averages your current season's flon indices by weeks played.

## Taste affinities

Your taste match compares completed ballots from revealed weeks you played together, across every shared flon. Shared first picks count most: identical ballots score 100%, while ballots with no tracks in common score 0%.

## Seasons

The standings start level four times a year: Winter (January–March), Spring (April–June), Summer (July–September), and Fall (October–December). Old games and all-time stats stay in the history, so a new season is a fresh race, not a reset of the flon.

## Badges

- **Five-week streak:** play in at least one flon for five calendar weeks in a row. It stays active while the streak continues.
- **Top voter accuracy:** finish a season with the smallest average gap between your ballot and the final track ranking in a flon, after at least three ballots.
- **First ever winner:** win the first scored week in a flon. Tied winners all earn it.

## Good to know

- A track someone has already played in the flon is rejected. The app checks as you post.
- A game needs at least 3 players with one valid track each. Otherwise it is abandoned: nobody scores and nobody loses.
- If you did not post and had no eligible track-pool spare, you can still listen, but you cannot vote. A pool spare keeps you in the game and is marked at the reveal; because it was automatic rather than a manual drop, it does not count towards your on-time drop rate.
- After 3 consecutive games without a valid drop (manual or from your track pool), the app pauses you for future games. Return from the flon page whenever you are ready.
